In addition to the handbrake, which today is often applied electronically, vehicles with a torque converter automatic transmission, a dual-clutch transmission, or an electric drive system all use an automated transmission locking device, also called a parking lock. The parking lock works by establishing a frictional connection between the tire-road contact and the body-powertrain suspension in the torque path of the vehicle's drive train.

A: Its very simple to do – all parking bollards and parking locks are surface-mounted for ease of installation and BCA compliance. Just mark out the drill points using the pre-drilled holes in the base plate of each parking bollard base plate. Parking locks can be installed into either concrete or bitumen. These are either M6 hex top concrete ankascrews which are self-threading, or alternatively M8 expansion bolts, depending on which model you purchase. Just drill the holes 50 mm deep as per the base plate layout into your level concrete parking floor and fit your parking barrier to the ground with the fixings supplied.

Q: After parking lock is installed, can I later move it to a different location?

A: Of course! Just remove the fixings and you can take your parking bollard out and move it to a different parking spot when you move! Parking simplicity on a stick!
